Phosphor & ceramics scintillator

Phosphor

Light conversion material

YAG ceramics have higher thermal conductivity than organic phosphors.
In addition, it is possible to add dopant uniformly, so it is possible to reduce color unevenness and light scattering light emission.

Ceramics phosphor has a high flexural strength and can be processed into an arbitrary shape according to the application, to that it is used for lighting and displays such as white LEDs.
Ce:YAG is mainly used, because it has absorption and florescence in the visible range.

Scintillator

Light emitting material which is excited by an electron beam or radiation

In the fields of physics measurement and nuclear medicine, scintillators are used for radiation detection in combination with a photodetector, and are also used for various applications such as non-destructive inspection, high energy physics, medical CT, PET and FE-SEM. Our ceramic scintillators are also used in "Large Synchrotron Radiation Facility SPring-8", and we are also conducting research and development on scintillators aiming for even higher performance.
Ce:YAG is also used because it has absorption in the ultraviolet region and has fluorescence in the visible region.
